Sweden’s best skiing on your doorstep

At Tottbacken you have a ski slope just outside your door. The genuine Åre village is within easy walking distance with its restaurants, nightlife and shopping.

Åre is the cradle of alpine Sweden. The village has attracted skiers for over 100 years and has arranged two alpine World Championships – in 1954 and 2007. The skiing is of the highest level with runs for all levels, from playful children’s areas to inviting off-piste. Additionally, there are great cross country trails and a spectacular alpine milieu for those who like to hike.

But there is so much more to Åre than just skiing. The village has a particular, genuine atmosphere and a village feel. The more than 800 year old church, the school right in the middle of the village and comfortable street milieu naturally contributes to that. Everything is gathered around the central square or within short walking distance of it. Here you will find good food, shopping and nightlife of an international standard. Some of the restaurants are run by very reputable chefs and have been noted for their food, service and setting.

In summer time Åre tempts you with hiking, downhill-cycling on Åreskutan, white water rafting, fishing, swimming and a host of other activities. Åre Autumn Market in late September/early October is a popular weekend when the whole village is filled with people, food, crafts, exhibitions and parties.
